Fun Palaces: 'Who are ya?' A young person's investigation into Gateshead identity

Sage Gateshead

Community at the Heart of Culture, Culture at the Heart of Community.

Young people from Whickham School are leading on this fun participatory day to discover what people of Gateshead think about where they live and Sage Gateshead are delighted to be supporting them.

‘Who are ya?’ – a young person’s investigation into Gateshead identity will join hundreds of Fun Palaces nationally and internationally set to explode with free and fun activities for all.

Schedule for the day

11am-1pm, Concourse:
Various activities will be happening on the Concourse and surrounding Quayside to investigate the question.
2-3pm, Sage Two:
Findings will be celebrated in an hour-long arts installation in Sage Two. (Sage Two will be free to pop in and out for this installation, subject to room capacity).

Fun Palaces is an annual, free, nationwide celebration of culture at the heart of community, using arts, science, craft, tech, digital, heritage and sports activities as a catalyst for community engagement. This takes place over the first weekend in October every year.

Fun Palaces believe in genius in everyone, in everyone an artist and everyone a scientist, and that creativity in community can change the world for the better. Fun Palaces believe we can do this together, locally, with radical fun – and that anyone, anywhere, can make a Fun Palace.
